The last “Desperate” workshop was 100 yards from the beach. One Saturday afternoon, me, Nutty and Big Kev were working late. A rather anxious looking chap poked his head round the door. “Any idea where I can get one of these”? he asked, holding out a length of 5” water hose with a huge split in it.
5” waterpipe isn’t exactly thick on the ground, and everywhere is shut on Saturday afternoons. The bloke was from a “Sky Diving” attraction that had set up on the beach just around the corner. The pipe was the bottom hose of the HUGE diesel engine that powered the fan, and it had burst.
“Leave it with us” we said. Within half an hour, we had found some (at Big Kev’s place”. Jumping on our trikes (Megalomaniac Merc V8 and “Blow Job” supercharged Rover V8, we delivered the pipe and helped fit it.
Our reward….as many goes at “Free-Falling” as we wanted. It wasn’t easy floating in the 120mph updraught the huge fan created, especially after a couple of celebratory spliffs with the operators, but by the end of the day, we’d got quite good at it. Just another average day at the shop!!!!
