Next was the chainguard. It looks simple, but it's profiled to clear the rear mudguard and tyre, and shaped at the end, all by hand. There are also several subtle folds in it. Took several hours.
Seatbase was next. Because I'm using a car battery, a "plinth" had to be fabricated. This raises the seat 1/2" to clear the terminals, and also clamps down the battery. Fitted the Citroen 2CV alternator, which sits in the hole in the front downtube/oil tank. Because it's chain driven, alignment has to be spot-on, and with there being only 1/16" clearance in the hole, I could have done with two pairs of hands.
Loads more horrible jobs to do, so I'm off to my shed. More updates shortly.
