March 15th.....The rear hub is finally fully machined after the special sprocket I had made arrived, a total of over 20 hours on the lathe!
On Monday, my profiles turned up. After making them out of plywood and cardboard, they were photographed and put into a Computer-Aided-Design programme. The disc was posted to a firm in Lincolnshire, and the parts were laser-cut. What a superb
job they made of them. Now I can get on with the frame, and it should be on wheels this week. Then the fiddly part starts, making forward controls, a tank, seatbase, and fitting everything. Dozens of brackets to carve out!
Whilst waiting for the profiles, I continued on my search for parts. LED's for the lighting system, metalflake paint (bright red), an extremely rare front mudguard off EBay, an airbrush, and loads of little parts that take hours to source!!!
You may think I'm on a huge budget for this build. Wrong. I have just £1200 to spend, and the profiles have just gobbled up a fair chunk of that!
